The festival has been running since 2010, when it won The Beautiful South Gold Award. This year it will run from Saturday 27th May to Sunday 4th June with over one hundred scarecrows on show.
Scarecrows to date have included a diverse range of creations, with something for everyone. The event is free of charge and fun for all the family!!!
Festival-goers can enjoy the scarecrows of Gatcombe and Chillerton by car or on foot. The numerous local footpaths allow for a great way of getting around, whilst at the same time enjoying the beautiful, surrounding countryside.
Aunt Sally’s Tearoom will be open as usual in The Chillerton Village Hall between 11am & 4pm selling hot and cold drinks and scrumptious home-made cakes.
Caricaturist Tony Hall will be on The Green with pencil in hand to sketch-out any wannabe scarecrows.
New for this year is The Gallybagger Inn at the The Reading Room in Chillerton. Selling local ale and cider, there will also be live music from skiffle band All Washed Up on the opening Saturday 27th.
The festival is very much a community event raising much needed funds for the upkeep of local facilities and amenities.
